As Salaam Alaikum Dear Family, We are often reminded to never take a moment of life and Allah's grace and mercy for granted. Sister Mashala forever exhibited beauty, intelligence, diligence and patience whenever I was blessed to be in her presence. I am so thankful for her and her family, which are in our prayers. May Allah be pleased with her.
As Salaam Alaikum, This is the most beautiful tribute I have ever seen. And I have not been blessed to have known Sis Mashala but just looking at some of the moments in her life(I have tears in my eyes) she is a Beautiful sister her sprit just jumps right out of the pictures. I write again today in memories of our Sister MaShala Muhammad and of all our "Loved Ones" whom Allah has called home. My heart is heavy for your family b/c I know your pain....... I lost my son(my best friend)and my daughter-in-law in a violent tornado here in NC. "Everyday" I miss him/them!

All Praises be to Allah for allowing us another opportunity and another special moment in Remembering Sister Mashala, (my son O'Keon) and all our Loved Ones during this month that Muslims fast....
The Fast of Ramadan
It is during this month that Muslims fast. It is called the Fast of Ramadan and lasts the entire month. Ramadan is a time when Muslims concentrate on their faith and spend less time on the concerns of their everyday lives. It is a time of worship and contemplation.
During the Fast of Ramadan strict restraints are placed on the daily lives of Muslims. They are not allowed to eat or drink during the daylight hours. Smoking and sexual relations are also forbidden during fasting. At the end of the day the fast is broken with prayer and a meal called the iftar. In the evening following the iftar it is customary for Muslims to go out visiting family and friends. The fast is resumed the next morning.
According to the Holy Quran:
One may eat and drink at any time during the night "until you can plainly distinguish a white thread from a black thread by the daylight: then keep the fast until night"
The good that is acquired through the fast can be destroyed by five things:
1. The telling of a lie
2. Slander
3. Denouncing someone behind his back
4. A false oath
5. Greed or covetousness
These are considered offensive at all times, but are most offensive during the Fast of Ramadan.
During Ramadan, it is common for Muslims to go to the Masjid (Mosque) and spend several hours praying and studying the Quran. In addition to the five daily prayers, during Ramadan Muslims recite a special prayer called the Taraweeh prayer (Night Prayer). The length of this prayer is usually 2-3 times as long as the daily prayers. Some Muslims spend the entire night in prayer.
On the evening of the 27th day of the month, Muslims celebrate the Laylat-al-Qadr (the Night of Power). It is believed that on this night Muhammad first received the revelation of the Holy Quran. And according to the Quran, this is when God determines the course of the world for the following year.
When the fast ends (the first day of the month of Shawwal) it is celebrated for three days in a holiday called Id-al-Fitr (the Feast of Fast Breaking). Gifts are exchanged. Friends and family gather to pray in congregation and for large meals. In some cities fairs are held to celebrate the end of the Fast of Ramadan.

(THE HOLY QURAN, 17:116)

As Salaam Alaikum Dear Family!!!
I come again today to write encouraging words in the "Garden of Memories" of our Dear Sister Mashala Muhammad and all our "Loved Ones" whom Allah has evolved into the Hereafter which the Holy Qur'an mentions as a continuation of this Life.
It's May 4,2009 and tomorrow is my son OKeon's Birthday. He would have been 32 years old. I cry and die a little bit each day...wishing I could see his face again, hear his voice, laugh and smile awhile!! I wanna' just wrap my arms around him and tell him how much I love him!! But a violent "tornado" here in North Carolina robbed me of those opportunities. Nonetheless, I thank All Merciful Allah God for all the wonderful opportunities HE has allowed me to have with my son for 30 years!! Life it seems--is sometimes "unfair." But I trust in a "just God" and a "fair God" knowing that oneday I'll see my son's face again...
I bring this same strength and faith to your family with encouraging words of "truth, love, prayer, preseverance,endurance,long-suffering, and Peace---knowing as a "Believer---Paradise is Ours!!"
