In Memoriam - Sister Mashala Muhammad (July 26, 1951 – May 3, 2008)

"Funny, but one week before my mom passed, she talked about writing her memoirs - and I guess that was my mother. She has a little better grasp on the subtleties and a little less grip on the way things worked in the real world. So, I sit here laughing and crying at the same time. And, I guess we'll all just have to write her memoirs for her with both the experiences we shared with her and the reflection of her in experiences to come. I love you ma." ~ James Muhammad

Dear Believers,
It is in the spirit of compassionate consideration and with the prayer that Allah's grace and mercy be extended to every believer in this time of trial that we inform you that Sister Mashala Muhammad, the wife of Dr. Abdul Alim Muhammad, returned to Allah on May 3, 2008. May Allah be pleased with her. On December 28th 2007, Sis. Mashala checked into Provident Hospital for surgery to repair a recurring stomach ulcer. When complications with the surgery caused her to require another procedure, a cancer was detected. The complications from the initial two surgeries left no option for a third surgery to attempt to remove the cancer.
In mid-April of 2008, by the grace of Allah, she returned home in her final days to the care of her husband and family. On April 27th, she enjoyed her last full day with family and friends. She expressed her one fear – that some would worry as to whether she was at peace. She wants everyone to know that she is absolutely "at peace." Further, as a final message, on April 26th, she told me that she wanted all the believers (especially the sisters) to know that she is an advocate for the natural way – that is natural fibers for garments, natural hair care, and natural, whole foods. Sis. Mashala is survived by her husband, her father, nine children, nine grandchildren, as well as many, many other friends, family members, and loved ones. If it pleases Allah, her 10th grandchild Aaliyah Mashala Muhammad will be born later this month.

We thank Allah and appreciate the prayers and well wishes of each and every believer. For those who might want to know how they can help, please consider giving to help someone in need or contributing to the 3-Year Economic Program of the Nation of Islam. Sis. Mashala dedicated her life to the service of others and literally gave everything she had to help those in need and toward furthering the mission of the Nation of Islam. This is the legacy she wanted to leave – a legacy of service to others and faith that Allah's Promise is true. More information on funeral services and a memorial weblog will be forth-coming.
Remember, each moment spent with each believer is a precious gift. May Allah continue to bless and keep you and your families. (Surah 6, Verses 162-166)
Sincerely,

Bro. James M. Muhammad

Note: It's not that we wish to put Hallmark or American Greetings out of business, but they will not donate one cent toward establishing a safe and secure homeland for the Lost-Found Nation of Islam in the West, where we can provide for the needs of ourselves and our people. So, cards are wonderful, but I know what my mom would have wanted. Her primary concerns were the maintenance and care for her husband and home, the stability of her children and helping the Honorable Louis Farrakhan in this mission. She would smile to know that each person reading this paid a little bit more into the building of our Nation through one of the programs or that you took the time to consider the poor brother or sister in the street who doesn't know his or her place in the world.

Last Word:

"We may be sad for a moment, but let the more enduring emotion be one of quiet strength. Be possessed of an undying resolve to do God's will through all the trial and tribulation with faith in knowing that the righteous will be successful. Let her legacy of giving continue with you. And, let that be the way you honor Sister Mashala. She has returned to that Eternal Mind from which we all sprang and will one day return."
The Holy Qur'an says,

"He is the First and the Last and the Manifest and the Hidden, and He is Knower of all things. He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in six periods, and He is established on the Throne of Power. He knows that which goes down into the earth and that which comes forth out of it, and that which comes down from heaven and that which goes up to it. And, He is with you wherever you are. And Allah is Seer of what you do. His is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth; and to Allah are (all) affairs returned. He causes night to pass into day and day to pass into night. And He is Knower of what is in the hearts. Believe in Allah and His Messenger, and spend of that whereof He has made you heirs. So those of you who believe and spend - for them is a great reward. Surah 57, verse 3-7

As-Salaam Alaikum, Family.

The Following is an Hadith that really helped me when my Mother (Pbuh) crossed over 3 years ago:

"Allah has said: 'I have nothing but Paradise as a reward for My servant who, when I have taken his dear friend, bears it with patience.' "

My heartfelt prayers go out to the Family.

May Allah be forever Pleased with our Sister, Mashala Muhammad.

Dear Bro. Alim and Family,

The love exemplified, in what we in the Los Angeles Area saw with you, Sis. Mashala and Bro. James was so warm to our hearts, we long for the joy of your presence again.

Thank you for all that you have and will continue to do for our Nation!

Note: Everytime I pass by a yard sale, I'll see Sis. Mashala's inquisitive facial expression and that beautiful smile. She just wanted to check for some Jazz albums for you and little something for herself. :)

As-Salaam Alaikum Beloved Family,

All praise is due to Allah for such a beautiful, virtuous woman. I did not know your mother personally, however in the lectures that Dr Alim gave, he always paid honor to his wonderful wife. The love, admiration, and respect always showed through, so I know she was such an awesome creation of Allah. May Allah bless and keep your family always.

Brother Alim and Family,

There are times when the thought of the pain and sorrow of a death is greater than the death itself. The impact is felt tremulously so much that we can only imagine the overall effect. In short we are reminded of a African proverb: Death is the cerebration of life.

Dear Dr. Alim and Family,

Words cannot express the sadness I felt when I heard of the passing of our beautiful sister Mashala. I remember the very first time I met her, at the old Abundant Life Clinic. Sometimes, you meet someone, and although you don't yet know them, you sense that there is just something so very special, so very extraordinary about them. Mashala was such a person.

Years later, when Alim and Mashala married, I couldn't think of two people more perfect for each other.

It is so very hard to find the right words at a time like this. Some years ago, we lost someone who was very special and Mr. LaRouche, in an attempt to comfort us in our sorrow, said "an angel has flown." It is appropriate to say that about Mashala. An angel has flown.

Please accept my most heartfelt condolences as well as those of your friend Lyn LaRouche.

To The Family and Loved Ones of
Sister MaShala Muhammad
Our Thoughts and Prayers are with You.....Always!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from Heaven. Here I dwell with Allah above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on Earth was through,
Allah picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I Welcome You."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

Allah gave me a list of things, that He wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
When you lie in bed, And the reality just doesn't seem right.
Allah and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on Earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that Allah has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on Earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to Allah at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick them up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

"We Loved You... But Allah Love You More"....... 17 May 2008

Greetings from Bro. Clinton(Mosque #6)

May Allah be pleased with the work of our sister and her family. What a beautiful sister. So many great memories from my days at Mosque 6. When I think of her I think of the dinners we would do at the mosque on Saturdays, the bus trip to Atlantic City to see the Minister in 1988 when I first started on my journey, the saviours day's especially the bus trip to Atlanta in 1992. The bean pies, whipped carrots, oven fried fish, delicious rice. But, most of all, I remember her being a loving mother, and no matter what challenges she may have had to face, she always did it with grace. What a special woman!!

Peace, Bro. Clinton Green

As Salaam Alaikum Family
I send you words of encouragement, peace and Love in Rememberance of Sister MaShala Muhammad:

Proverbs 9:1-6, 9:10
Wisdom hath builded her house, she
hath hewn out her seven pillars:
2. She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.
3. She hath sent forth her maidens; she crieth upon the highest places of the city,
4. Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither; as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
5. Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.
6. Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.

10. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

As-Salaam Alaikum Family!

All Praises be to Allah for allowing us another opportunity and another special moment in Remembering Sister Mashala, (my son O'Keon) and all our Loved Ones during this month that Muslims fast....

The Fast of Ramadan

It is during this month that Muslims fast. It is called the Fast of Ramadan and lasts the entire month. Ramadan is a time when Muslims concentrate on their faith and spend less time on the concerns of their everyday lives. It is a time of worship and contemplation.

During the Fast of Ramadan strict restraints are placed on the daily lives of Muslims. They are not allowed to eat or drink during the daylight hours. Smoking and sexual relations are also forbidden during fasting. At the end of the day the fast is broken with prayer and a meal called the iftar. In the evening following the iftar it is customary for Muslims to go out visiting family and friends. The fast is resumed the next morning.

According to the Holy Quran:

One may eat and drink at any time during the night "until you can plainly distinguish a white thread from a black thread by the daylight: then keep the fast until night"

The good that is acquired through the fast can be destroyed by five things:
1. The telling of a lie
2. Slander
3. Denouncing someone behind his back
4. A false oath
5. Greed or covetousness

These are considered offensive at all times, but are most offensive during the Fast of Ramadan.

During Ramadan, it is common for Muslims to go to the Masjid (Mosque) and spend several hours praying and studying the Quran. In addition to the five daily prayers, during Ramadan Muslims recite a special prayer called the Taraweeh prayer (Night Prayer). The length of this prayer is usually 2-3 times as long as the daily prayers. Some Muslims spend the entire night in prayer.

On the evening of the 27th day of the month, Muslims celebrate the Laylat-al-Qadr (the Night of Power). It is believed that on this night Muhammad first received the revelation of the Holy Quran. And according to the Quran, this is when God determines the course of the world for the following year.

When the fast ends (the first day of the month of Shawwal) it is celebrated for three days in a holiday called Id-al-Fitr (the Feast of Fast Breaking). Gifts are exchanged. Friends and family gather to pray in congregation and for large meals. In some cities fairs are held to celebrate the end of the Fast of Ramadan.

May Allah continue to Strengthen and Bless you as we take this Journey --- We Call "LIFE!!"

Remember---ALLAH Loves You
And We Love You....

Ch.2: THE COW
Section 19: Hard Trials necessary to establish Truth

153 O you who, believe, seek assistance through patience and prayer: surely Allah is with the patient.

154 And speak not of those who are slain in Allah's way as dead, Nay, (they are) alive, but you perceive not.

155 And We shall certainly try you with something of fear and hunger and loss of property and lives and fruits. And give good news to the patient,

156 Who, when a misfortune befalls them, say: Surely we are Allah's, and to Him we shall return.

157 Those are they on whom are blessings and mercy from their Lord; and those are the followers of the right course.

May All Merciful Allah continue to Bless your Family as well as mine through these difficult days.
